    Sometimes an actor can identify with his role a little too much.  Take Malcolm Gets, who plays angst-ridden Richard on NBC's Caroline in the City.  "A year ago I went to a record store on prime-time date night, Friday night, around 9," he recalls.  "I ended up buying 'Wozzeck,' this atonal opera about a man who goes insane and murders his wife.  I realized I was buying the most depressing 20th-century opera ever written, and I thought, 'Oh my God - I'm just like Richard!'"

    The realization helped Gets get a life.  "Like a lot of creative people, I thought I needed to live that angst and indulge in it." says the 33-year-old actor.  "Now I'm finding more time for myself.  I'm going to the movies.  I'm taking vacations.  I'm learning to cook.  I'm starting to realize that my work is only going to be as interesting as I am as a person."

Malcolm Get's Smoked Bluefish Pâté

1 lb. smoked bluefish fillets
8 oz. cream cheese
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. cognac
1 tbsp. chives, minced
1 tbsp. fresh parsley
1 tbsp. shallots, minced
˝ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. lemon juice
White pepper to taste
In the bowl of a food processor, combine all ingredients.   Blend 1 minute or until smooth.  Makes about 4 cups.  Serve with toasted pita bread.
