8/14/99 - Melbourne, Australia

    It started off that my friend & I got to the pub they were playing at about 9pm. They were scheduled to be on at midnight, so we had a few hours to wait. But they had 2 support acts which were really good (we knew the lead singer of one of them), so the time flew by. We were sitting at a table near the front door so I could keep an eye out to see our boys arrive. It was about 11:30pm when I saw them walk in * Jayce then Butch then Slug * I sat there with my mouth wide open in total shock, I couldn't believe that they were actually here live in Melbourne !!! I sat there and watched them all walk by to the backstage area. So we went and stood around the backstage area. I saw Butch walk out and just grabbed my friend and barged through the door. Butch actually went to the bathroom, but Jayce had come out of the band room as we arrived, I flipped out !!! I just said "Hi Jayce, I'm Kylie" and he's like "Hi, I'm Jayce" and I said "Yeah, I know", (LOL) then he shook my hand and then I told him how well they did on their live TV performance and he was like "You saw that?" and I was like "Yeah, I was hanging out for it, like I was hanging out for you guys to finally come to Melbourne" and he was like "Really?" and then I told him how a friend of mine in the States had sent me a copy of their CD about 10 months ago and I have loved them ever since. He was really rapt about that. My god, then Butch walks out of the bathroom and I just thought I couldn't breathe !!! I said "Hi Butch" and he had this huge smile on his face and said "Hi" and I said "I'm Kylie, we e-mailed" and he's like "Oh, sweetie!" and rubbed my arm and shook my hand and gave me a kiss on the lips & a hug and said "Oh, it's so nice to meet you". He was so adorable !!! So then I got a couple of pictures with Butch & Jayce. Then as I thanked them and went to walk off, Butch just grabbed my arm and said "Now make sure you stand at the front and enjoy the show Sweetie!" Aaaahhh, I felt like I was gonna pass out !!! So we walked out and !
    I just kinda stood at the side of the stage trying to catch my breath !!! Then the next minute Butch walks out of the backstage room and walks past me and gives me a wink, I died of course, then about 2 minutes later, he walks back and I had just lit up a smoke and he's like "Oh sweetie, do you mind if I have one of your cigarettes?" I said "Sure, you can have an Aussie smoke" (that was probably a really dumb thing to say, but it's all that came out of my mouth) and he said "Oh yeah" so I passed one to him and he put it in his mouth and I lit it for him !!! #%#!$%#^&%*&^(*&%$$^#@$^#@&%#* Can you fuckin' believe it !!! Then he rubbed my arm again and said "Thanx Sweetie" Oh my fuckin' god, I was just thinking I was going to need an ambulance by this stage !!! I was shaking like a leaf, I was all hot & sweaty and I felt like I couldn't breathe !!! LOL !!! So then my friend & I go straight to the front of the stage to get our position. Then I saw Slug walk out * I just said to my friend "Wait there and mind our spot, I've gotta go talk to Slug. So anyway, I go up to Slug and said "Hi Slug" and he's like "Hi, how are you?" I said "Good, I'm so glad you guys are here, I can't wait to see the show" He said "Well it's a pretty wild show" I said "Yeah, I know, I've heard" and he kinda looked at me funny, I said "I've got a friend in the States who got me into your music and she's told me all about your shows" and he was like "That's really cool, well enjoy the show" Then I asked someone to take a picture of us. I went running back to my friend in a fit !!! I swear you couldn't get the smile off my face, I was just in heaven and so damn happy. I couldn't believe that I had just met them all and they were all so damn nice !!! So then the time comes, the show starts. The set list is as follows:- (yes of course I got the set list after the show) (as written on the list)
Yesterday, Over Your Head, Mrs Jackson, Indie Queen, Let me Go, Grant Park, Vampires, Write It, Appetite, Make Up, Every Monday, Freak of the Week (but they did a little bit of Bohemian Rhapsody inbetween Make Up & Every Monday and Always Something There to Remind Me at the end of the show as encore)
    It was so unreal, I knew every song except Grant Park, but that's just a brand new one anyway, so I really didn't worry that I didn't know it. I felt like I was the only one who knew their music! They all noticed I knew all the words which I was really happy about. I think they were too 'cos they'd always give a little smile when we had eye contact. I got a guitar pick that Butch had in his mouth * whoo hooo !!! I took quite a few photos, I just pray to god that they work out or you know I'll just die !!! They all looked so fuckin' gorgeous, I swear to god, they all just look so much better in real life. They sounded fantastic, it was full of energy and Butch was a great entertainer. They really impressed the crowd that was there and seemed really happy about being in Australia. I think they made quite a few new fans which is great ! I know my friend that I dragged along with me is going to buy their CD now, she loved them ! It was just a kick ass show !!!
    So after it finished, we bump into this guy that we know, so we're chatting away, then I saw Jayce at the front of the stage signing stuff !!! So I said to my friend "I'm outa here" and went straight over the Jayce. My friend didn't take long to come over * she's totally in love with them now, she thinks they are fantastic and the nicest guys she's ever met !!! Yay, I converted her !!! So we're talking to Jayce, just how unreal the show was etc. Then I got another photo with him and he gave me the biggest hug !!! He is so sweet !!! Then he signed my CD. So that was cool, it was so excellent 'cos they are not well known at all here, they were just walking around this pub, it was like we got to hang out with them, it was amazing ! So next we see Slug, so we go up to him and tell him how much the show rocked etc. Got another picture with him, and he signed my CD and gave me a kiss ! Then I saw Butch, so I catch his eye and he's like "Hay, did you like the show" and said "Yeah, it rocked, it was everything I thought it would be, I loved it" and he's like "Oh, thanx sweetie" and I asked him if I could get another picture, so he gives me a hug ((*&^*%&^$^$^*() and then signs my CD and as I thanked him, he said (as he was holding my hand) "Now make sure you keep in touch" and I made a dick of myself and said "And how am I going to do that" and he said "E-Mail me" and I was like "oh, yeah, no problems, I'll send you one tomorrow" and he said "Yeah, do that, 'cos I check my e-mail nearly every day" so I said "OK". Then Rhonda said to him "You made her day when you e-mailed her, she rang me up saying 'oh my god, Butch just e-mailed me' LOL * he just laughed and gave me this cute smile and I said to him "yeah, I couldn't believe it, I was so happy". Then he just rubbed my arm again. So I thought that was going to be it. Everyone was starting to get kicked out and I just didn't want to leave, I wanted to stay there and hug them all forever ! But we got talking to the lead singer of one of the support acts 'cos we know him from a cover back he used to be in. So that was good 'cos then they thought we were with the band * eeiiiii ! So we got to hang a bit more. When I was talking to this guy, I was still just looking at Butch every now and again to see what he was doing and we made eye contact at one stage and he smiled and winked at me ! I was just not coping ! Then we got asked again by the bouncers to make a move. Butch just walked by as this happened and said to Butch "We're getting kicked out, can I just take one more picture for my friend in the States who got me into you guys" and he's like "Yeah, sure" and so smiled for the camera, then I couldn't help myself, I practically jumped on him, I just gave him this huge hug and kissed him and said "I hope to see you again soon" and he said "Yeah Sweetie (I sometimes wish he's call me Kylie instead of Sweetie all the time * but hay, it's cute), now make sure you e-mail me" * Aaaahhhhhhh !!!! So then we said goodbye to this guy in the other band and he was talking to Slug, so then I start crapping on to Slug again and then said goodbye and he gave me a hug & kiss * my god, this was the most amazing night in my life !!! It was like I'd been friends with them all for years and we hadn't seen each other for a while and it was all hugs & kisses and then we had to say goodbye again, it really was truly amazing how friendly they were !!! And then we left !!! We could have hung around I guess, 'cos by this stage we were talking to the support act (who we knew the lead singer) and I was talking to Slug too, so the bouncer had actually stopped telling us to make a move, but I started to feel a bit like a hanger, so I said to my friend, "Come on, we had better go or they might think we're stalkers or something". So there you go, can you fuckin' believe it or what ??? I am still having a friggin' heart attack over the whole thing !!!
