I arrived at the venue at 9.30pm with three other friends still not
believing that the Marvelous 3 were touring Australia. I have followed
these guys since Southgang to Floyds Funk Revival to The Floyd's to The
Marvelous 3 and finally getting the chance to see them play live. The
venue only had about one hundred people in it due to the low key
promotion for the concert otherwise there could have been more people.
It was good in away as we easily made our way to the front of the stage
before they started. The usual lights out before they started with the
introduction of Atlanta's greatest band The Marvelous 3. They came
running on stage to an Intro song and straight away blasted into You're
so yesterday with Butch and Jayce jumping all over the stage and this
was the first song. A little small talk after that about the
pronunciation of Brisbane then the guys played Over You're Head then
into Mrs Jackson, Indie Queen, Let me go, Grant Park a new song about a
previous girlfriend of Butch's who turned out to be gay, so butch said,
the song has a little country feel to it. Butch was flicking and kicking
guitar picks all over the place as well he banged his head on the beam
above the stage which was very low. The guys then played Vampires in
love, Write it on your hand, Appetite, Make up, Every monday, Freak of
the week, which Butch described as the song people go 'oh your that
band.' They left the stage after that, awaiting for the audience to
chant encore which of course we did, however down here in Brisbane
Australia we say more, which Butch had a laugh about when he and the
guys came back on stage to play 'Always something there to remind you'.
We hung around after the concert to meet the guys as I had all the
Southgang, Floyd's and Marvelous 3 cds for the guys to sign. Butch came
out first and was a really nice guy and wanted to chat about general
stuff which was great as it made me feel like I am not just a fan. Then
I turned around and Jayce was behind me, so I waited for him to finish
talking to this person and he introduced himself to me so I handed him
my cds he couldn't believe I had them all as most of them were not
released in Australia he then called over Mitch"Slug" to sign the cds he
also was in shock that I had them as The Floyd" cds didn't even make it
to cd shops in America. We then chatted for a while before the guys said
they had to go. It was then my girlfriend Jodie, reminded me that she
had her camera with her, so we chased after the guys for a picture which
they obliged to. That was my experience of seeing the Marvelous 3 in
concert, hopefully as they said they will be back in Australia before
the end of the year.
