Marvelous Shoot
From Atlanta
Journal Constitution
Date: 8/30/99
The video shoot Sunday for
home-grown rockers Marvelous 3 was a family
affair. Providing the catering on the set of the conceptual video for the
band's next single, "Let Me Go," at Karma downtown were lead singer Butch
Walker's parents and Cartersville residents Butch Sr. and Melissa Walker.
Older sister Dana Walker was hired to do makeup. Mom Melissa whipped up
curried chicken and a pork loin with Lowcountry sauce for the lunch break.
Even the wafer-thin models hired as extras and dressed in ultratrendy club
gear couldn't keep their manicured hands off the Mississippi Mud Cake
dessert.
"As a band, we pretty much spend our life waking up and going to sleep in
clubs," Butch Walker, wearing a Prince T-shirt, told us in between takes.
"That's what this pretty much reflects. We mainly just wanted to do another
video for our fans."
During the shoot, bassist Jayce posed as a bartender and drummer Slug climbed
into the DJ cage to spin records. The video's final shot consists of Walker
strumming an acoustic guitar while relaxing on the club's trademark piece of
furniture: a bed positioned in the center of the room.
Marvelous 3 hopes to have "Let Me Go" out to TV stations next month.
